WEBGetting the license based on reciprocity was easy and done on the spot. The MVO gave me a form for the required medical exam, which was done the same day at the closest hospital at a cost of $200. Should I update my NHI card number

You can just insist on the change. In your case you probably can wait until you get the Taiwan ID and ignore all of this new ID nonsense.
