Infectious Disease
WEBCandida species are the fourth most common cause of health care-associated bloodstream infections in the US (2015), with Candida albicans predominating. However, at Ochsner since 2010, Candida glabrata has been the most common species.C. glabrata is more resistant to certain antifungals, creating a concern regarding appropriate therapy.

Biospecimen & Core Research Laboratory

Ochsner Medical School Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship
WEBAward. Up to 5 total fellowships will be awarded to eligible applicants. The duration of this post- doctoral research fellowship is for 22 weeks. Total stipend is $800 per week payable bi-weekly. Taxes, insurance premiums and charges for other benefits will be withdrawn from this stipend as per fellow selection and institutional practice.
Office of Epidemiology and Biostatistics

The Alton Ochsner Award Relating Smoking and Disease
WEBThis prestigious award recognizes exemplary scientific research achievements that provide major insights into the biological mechanisms relating tobacco smoking and human disease. It has been given annually since 1986 by Ochsner Health. Recipients receive a $15,000 honorarium, an award medallion, and a plaque describing their key research findings.
