WebPlace the water, honey (if you wish), cardamon and star anise into a small saucepan with the lid on and bring to the boil. Leave to simmer for 5 minutes. While the water is infusing, peel the pear and cut into quarters. Remove the stalk and seeds. Place the pears into the water and simmer gently for 5 minutes till just soft.
